Blog Journal #9

Throughout my K-12 education, my experience with distance learning is limited. I attended public schools, so most of my learning was done in a classroom with instruction happening at the same time. However, during my sophomore year of high school I took an online French class on FLVS. This required me to learn at my own pace using videos, independent research, and scheduling calls with my instructor in order to be tested. For me personal, this was not the most effective way to learn as I wasn't being held accountable as I would've been had I been in a classroom with an in person instructor.

Open Educational Resources are learning resources that are easily accessible for students and teachers. They are often found online and free of charge. The five rights that associate with OER's include the right to retain, refuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. Examples of OER's include https://fmea.org/ and https://www.cpalms.org/

New skills acquired from working on Assignment 4 included how to put a voice recording over a powerpoint and using animations. I liked that I got to create a powerpoint with a lesson that I am passionate about, which is music. I also enjoyed being able to make it interactive and easily inputting links to different music games. Next time, I'd love to continue exploring how to input different images and transitions.
